CEM’s 14th Annual Whistler Capital Event promised and delivered a perfect blend of insightful investment discussions and actionable advice in an environment supercharged by the ski resort’s Super Bowl atmosphere.
The event gathered 64 investors and 57 issuers for one-on-one meetings, complemented by cocktail receptions and lavish meals. While mining and resource companies were the mainstay of the discussions, extraordinary opportunities in the biotech and AI sectors were also prominent as attendees convened to select their top investment picks at CEM’s unique and valuable Investor Breakout Exchange.

Fireweed Metals Corp.
Fireweed Metals is a public mineral exploration company on the leading edge of critical minerals project development. They are currently exploring undeveloped zinc-lead-silver deposits and high-grade tungsten deposits in mining-friendly Yukon. Both projects, Macpass and Mactung, have notable upside potential. Backed by Teck Resources, Lundin Trust, and Larry Childress, the company has a cash position of $16 million and has lots of upcoming news including drill results, a resource update, and economic studies.

MustGrow Biologics Corp.
MustGrow Biologics is a sustainable agriculture technology company with an organic crop protection platform with the potential to replace or complement synthetic chemicals. The company has a strong cash position, with two years of planned cash runway. Highlights include two products in near-term production (TerraMG and TerraSante), as well as a commercial license agreement with Bayer. MustGrow estimates that Bayer will spend US$35-40 million to commercialize TerraMG, a soil biocontrol product. Other global partnerships include Sunimoto, Janssen PMP, and NexusBioAg.

Tantalus Systems Holdings Inc.
Tantalus is a smart grid technology company that transforms aging one-way grids into future-proofed multi-directional grids that improve the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of utilities. To date, Tantalus has supported 280+ utilities across the US, Canada, and the Caribbean, with a 99% retention rate. The company has a reliable growth model with over 30% revenue stemming from high-margin software and services. Other financial highlights include an ARR of $11 million with a CAGR of 20%, a market cap of CAD$37.5 million, and a tight share structure of 44.6 million outstanding shares.

American Aires Inc.
American Aires is a Canadian-based nanotechnology company that has developed, proved, and commercialized proprietary silicon-based microchips that neutralize the harmful effects of electromagnetic radiation emitted by consumer electronic devices. The company has 54,000 customers in 65 countries, and the US accounts for 80% of sales. Reported revenue for the first nine months of 2023 was C$6.6 million, up 68% year-over-year.

Myriad Uranium Corp.
Myriad Uranium is an exploration company exploring two company-making uranium projects. The first is the Copper Mountain project in Wyoming, where Myriad has a property option agreement to earn up to 75%. The project includes historical resource estimates of between 15.7 million and 30.1 million pounds eU308. RMEC (a subsidiary of Union Pacific) estimated the resource potential of two of the five deposits at Copper Mountain could be as high as 63.8 million pounds eU3O8. The second project covers four outstanding exploration licenses in the Tim Mersoi Basin, Niger. The company has a tight share structure with just 34 million shares out, and 46% is held by insiders.
